GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned defenseman Jakub Kindl to the Grand Rapids Griffins for conditioning. He will be in the lineup tonight when the Griffins host the Milwaukee Admirals in a 7 p.m. start at Van Andel Arena.

Kindl, 23, has logged 11 games during his first full season with the Red Wings, going scoreless with 12 penalty minutes and a minus-three rating. He has been a healthy scratch for each of Detroit's last 13 contests, with his most recent appearance coming in a 6-4 loss at Vancouver on Nov. 6. Kindl has totaled 14 NHL games since making his Red Wings debut on Dec. 3, 2009, showing no points and 12 PIM.

Detroit's first pick (19th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kindl made his Griffins debut on April 8, 2006 and spent the last three full AHL seasons (2007-10) with Grand Rapids, combining to play 229 games with 84 points (12-72-84) and 219 PIM. Only four defensemen and 13 players overall have appeared in more games in a Griffins uniform than the 2009 AHL All-Star Game participant.

Kindl played 73 games for the Griffins last season, ranking third on the club with 30 assists, while tying for eighth on the team and placing second among defensemen with 33 points.
