Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, recalled centerman Ryan O'Marra and left wing Linus Omark, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.
Omark, the Oilers fourth-round draft choice (97th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, is earning his first call up to the Oilers. The 5-10, 175-pounder from Overtornea, Sweden is currently leading the Barons in scoring with 26 points and is tied for the team lead in goals with 13. Omark was named the AHL Player of the Week for the first week in November for his five-goal outburst November 7 against the Toronto Marlies.
O'Marra, a 6-1, 193-pounder is tied for third on the Barons roster with 13 assists in 22 games played. This is O'Marra's second recall to the Oilers. Last season, he played in three games with Edmonton, registering one assist. He was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the first round (15th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Both players are expected to be in Edmonton in time for the Oilers game this Friday at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Barons play three games this weekend, beginning Friday evening at home against the Manitoba Moose at 7:05 p.m. Enjoy $1 hot dogs at all concession stands for this Friday's game. Also, Barons season seat holders can redeem unused season tickets for a ticket to this Friday's game. Oklahoma City finishes the weekend on the road. Saturday is their first meeting with the Rockford Ice Hogs and Sunday, the Barons make their first trip to Milwaukee.
