San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Rocco Grimaldi tied a franchise high with five points to lead the San Antonio Rampage (17-9-2-0) to a 7-3 victory over the Texas Stars (11-10-8-0) in front of 6,974 on Friday night at the AT&T Center. Six players tallied multi-point games for San Antonio, led by Grimaldi's goal and four assists. Garrett Wilson and Logan Shaw notched two goals each and Quinton Howden added four assists, marking the first time in franchise history that two players have recorded four assists in a game.

Grimaldi opened the scoring with his third of the season and first since Oct. 29 to give the Rampage an early 1-0 lead. Jussi Rynnas made a save on Grimaldi's first attempt but couldn't get to his backhand off the rebound.

Steven Kampfer extended San Antonio's lead to two goals late in the frame, taking a pass from Grimaldi and wristing the puck past Rynnas from the right circle. Logan Shaw tallied the third goal of the opening stanza with a stinger past Rynnas, which marked the end of his night as Jack Campbell took over in net for the Stars.

Gemel Smith opened up the second-period scoring to get Texas on the board, but the Rampage answered with a Drew Shore goal just over a minute later, giving San Antonio a 4-1 lead.

Wilson, who has been historically successful in the series against the Stars, notched his first goal since San Antonio's 7-1 rout of Texas, taking a pass from Grimaldi to give the Silver and Black a 5-1 lead at the second intermission.

Matej Stransky's shot from the right circle beat Ellis to make it 5-2 at 5:37 of the third period, but the Rampage would extend the lead to four once again with Wilson's second of the night. Scott Glennie punched in a rebound off a Brandon Ranford shot to make it 6-3 late in the final period, and Logan Shaw scored an empty-netter to account for the final 7-3 score.

All 10 goals of the game were scored at even strength, as the Stars were 0-for-4 on the power play while the Rampage finished scoreless on one opportunity with the man advantage. Dan Ellis finished with 33 saves on 36 shots.
