Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Six days after Wilkes-Barre/Scranton skated into the holiday break with a 3-0 shutout win in Binghamton, it was the Senators flipping the script in the rematch, blanking the Penguins by a score of 3-0 on Friday at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Binghamton and a stretch of three straight victories against the Senators by the Penguins.

The Senators controlled the pace in the first, owning a 17-8 shot advantage, and eventually took a 1-0 lead at 14:40 of the period. Max McCormick picked off a Penguins' outlet pass before stickhandling toward the front of the net and sending a backhander past Wilkes-Barre/Scranton goalie Jeff Zatkoff.

Zatkoff and Binghamton goaltender Scott Greenham would trade big stops throughout the second frame. The Penguins keeper would deny Ryan Dzingel with leg pad early in the frame, while Greenham stopped a Conor Sheary breakaway to help keep the score, 1-0, going into the third.

Dzingel broke the game open in the final period with two goals over a span of 3:33. The rookie forward doubled Binghamton's lead as he worked a give-and-go with Cole Schenider and fired a wrister from the low slot that sailed past the blocker of Zatkoff at 8:44. Dzingel then finished up a 4-on-2 rush to net his seventh goal of the season and put Binghamton ahead, 3-0.

Greenham collected his first shutout of the season with a 31-save performance. Zatkoff saw his five-game winning streak come to an end despite stopping 37-of-40 shots.
