Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled defenseman Jordon Southorn from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators. The team also announced today that it has released forward Greg Miller from his Professional Tryout Contract.
Southorn, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound defenseman from Montreal, Quebec, has played eight games for Portland this season with a plus-4 rating and four penalty minutes. The 24 year-old fifth year pro was reassigned to Gwinnett on December 17. On his most recent assignment to the Gladiators, Southorn had four assists in three games. Originally a Fourth Round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Southorn made his Pirates debut on March 14, 2014, notching two assists against the St. John's IceCaps.
He will rejoin the Pirates in time to be eligible for their game tomorrow night against the Hartford Wolf Pack at the XL Center.

He played in six games, scoring two goals and one assist for three points with a plus-1 rating. He scored both goals in his most recent game, a 4-3 overtime win on December 20 at the Cross Insurance Arena against the Worcester Sharks. They were his first two goals scored in the American Hockey League. The 25 year-old second year pro was named the game's First Star.
Prior to joining Portland, Miller played in 23 games this season with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears. There, he totaled 13 goals, 14 assists, and 27 points. At the time he signed with the Pirates, Miller was the third leading scorer in the ECHL.
