
Hartzell and Cianfrini Join Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today
In two appearances this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hartzell went 2-0-0 with a 2.92 goals against average and a .882 save percentage. He has also compiled a record of 5-4-0 for the Nailers in 2014-15, while recording a 2.54 GAA, a .915 save percentage and one shutout.
A 25-year old second-year pro, Hartzell split the 2013-14 season between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Wheeling. He went 10-8-1 over 25 games with the Penguins, registering a 2.48 GAA a .901 save percentage, three shutouts and earning AHL Goaltender of the Month honors for January. In 14 contests for Wheeling, Hartzell posted a record of 8-5-1 with a 3.13 GAA, a .900 save percentage and one shutout.
In a separate transaction, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Paul Cianfrini to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Cianfrini, 25, joins Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the second time this season after originally signing a PTO with the team on Dec. 20. He made his American Hockey League and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton debut that night in the Penguins' 3-0 win at Binghamton. He has collected one goal, two assists and two penalty minutes in 17 games this season for the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).
The third-year pro has appeared in 155 ECHL contests with Toledo, Trenton and Wheeling, totaling 32 points (3G-29A) and 73 penalty minutes.
The Penguins return from the holiday break to take on the Senators in Binghamton on Friday, Dec. 26 at 7:05 p.m. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is back on home ice on Saturday, Dec. 27 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with a start time of 7:05 p.m. and closes out the weekend versus the Norfolk Admirals on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 4:05 p.m.
