Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators snapped its four-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Ryan Dzingel scored twice and Scott Greenham stopped all 31 shots faced to give the B-Sens its first win over the Penguins this season.
Max McCormick scored 14:40 into the opening period to give Binghamton the 1-0 lead. McCormick intercepted a pass deep in the Penguins' defensive zone and made a move around one Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defender before finishing with a backhanded flip past Jeff Zatkoff for his fourth marker of the season. The B-Sens outshot the Penguins 19-9 in the opening 20 minutes of play to take the lead into the first intermission.
Greenham and Zatkoff controlled the second period to keep the score frozen at 1-0 heading into the final frame of regulation.
Binghamton increased its lead to 2-0 just shy of the nine minute mark of the third when Dzingel completed a give-and-go sequence with Cole Schneider for his first of the night and sixth of the season. Less than four minutes later, Dzingel notched his seventh of the year to push the final score to 3-0 Binghamton.
Dzingel registered a pair of goals for the second time this season while Darren Kramer finished with a pair of assists to lead the B-Sens. Zatkoff, who came into the contest on a five-game win streak, allowed three goals on 40 shots in the losing effort.
Binghamton travels to Hershey tomorrow night for a 7:00p.m. faceoff versus the Bears.
