
Rampage Sign Gongalsky, Kinnunen and Ward to PTO

SAN ANTONIO (February 3, 2009) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that they have signed forward Igor Gongalsky, defenseman Justin Kinnunen and defenseman Steve Ward each to a Professional Try-Out (PTO).
Gongalsky, 22, joins the Rampage from the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) where he has posted three goals and eight assists through 14 games. He started the season with the now defunct Fresno Falcons recording six goals and six assists through 28 games.
The 6-foot, 215-pound native of Kiev, Ukraine spent last season with the Falcons posting 18 goals, 25 assists and 140 penalty minutes in 63 games. He also was selected to the 2008 ECHL All-Star team. Prior to turning pro in 2007, he spent two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League - Junior A hockey - with the Oshawa Generals and the Owen Sound Attack. He played alongside current Rampage rookie Brett MacLean in Oshawa for 56 regular season games (16 goals, 21 assists) and nine post season games (3 goals, 3 assists) during the 2006-07 season.
Kinnunen joins the Rampage from the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) where he has played in 38 games recording 12 goals and 16 assists. He signed a PTO with the Rampage January 17 playing in one game and was released on January 20.
The 6-foot, 168-pound native of Negaunee, Michigan tallied two goals and seven assists through 14 games in the playoffs last year for Texas. During the 2007-08 regular season he posted 11 goals and 32 assists in 64 games.
Ward, 22, joins the Rampage from the Reading Royals (ECHL) where he has posted six goals and 16 assists in 30 games this season and was selected to the 2009 ECHL All-Star team. The 6-foot, 187-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario, began the season playing in three games, collecting one assist, with the Albany River Rats (AHL).
The second-year pro split the 2007-08 season with the River Rats appearing in 28 games (1 goal, 7 assists) and the Florida Everblades (ECHL) playing in 45 games (1 goal, 13 assists). Prior to turning pro in 2007, Ward spent five seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting and the Plymouth Whalers. During his junior hockey career he posted 37 goals and 84 assists in 249 career games.
