Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms announced today that Frank Miceli and Peter White have been selected to the Philadelphia Phantoms Hall of Fame.

Miceli will be inducted into the Phantoms Hall of Fame during pregame ceremonies on Friday, February 20 when the Phantoms host the Portland Pirates. White will join the club during ceremonies prior to the game on Sunday, April 5 against the Norfolk Admirals.

A South Philadelphia native, Miceli was the COO of the Phantoms from their inaugural season in 1996 until this past October, when he departed to become Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Spurs Sports & Entertainment in San Antonio, Texas.

Under Miceli's watch, the Phantoms enjoyed unprecedented success for a first-year franchise, and went on to rewrite the attendance categories in the AHL's record books. The Phantoms led the league in attendance in each of their first six seasons, peaking at an AHL-record average of 12,002 fans per game in the 1998-99 season. The Phantoms own five of the top seven largest regular season crowds in league history, as well as the largest crowd ever to attend an American Hockey League game - 20,103 at Game 4 of the 2005 Calder Cup Finals on June 10, 2005 when the Phantoms won their second Calder Cup.

During his time with the Phantoms, Miceli was honored with the Thomas Ebright Award in recognition of his career contributions to the American Hockey League, and is also a past winner of the James C. Hendy Award as the AHL's outstanding executive.

"This is an incredible honor," Miceli said. "I could have never imagined anything like this when I was asked to run the Phantoms almost 13 years ago. This team brought me some of the greatest moments of my professional life and it will always hold a special place in my heart."

"Frank was instrumental in the success of the Philadelphia Phantoms since our franchise's inception in 1996," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "His dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm to our team was second-to-none and this induction into the Phantoms Hall of Fame is well-deserved. While Frank is no longer with the Phantoms, he now will be a part of this franchise forever."

White is the all-time leading scorer in Phantoms history, having posted 153 goals and 319 assists for 472 points in 431 career games. He is exactly 100 points ahead of Mark Greig, who is second on that list. He is also the franchise's leader in the goals and assists categories by themselves, as well as in games played. Twenty-eight of his goals were game-winning markers and 58 of them came on the power play, which are also both franchise records.

White posted 105 points in two consecutive seasons, 1996-97 and 1997-98. The number remains the franchise record for points by a player in a season. White led the AHL in scoring on both occasions, becoming just the fourth player in league history to lead the league in scoring in consecutive years. Nobody has done it since. White was named an AHL All-Star on three occasions and was a member of the 1998 Calder Cup championship team.

"I'm very happy to be a part of this group," White said. "We had so many great accomplishments here back in the early years of this franchise. Playing in front of those crowds was a fantastic experience and being a part of the first Calder Cup championship team is something I'll never forget."
