
Lightning Return Helenius, Recall Ramo

TAMPA BAY, FL - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have reassigned goaltender Riku Helenius to the Admirals and recalled goaltender Karri Ramo from Admirals, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.
Helenius, a 6-foot-3, 202-pound goaltender from Palkane, Finland, made his NHL debut on Friday, January 30 against Philadelphia and made two saves on two shots faced in relief.
Helenius has appeared in one game with the Admirals this season. He made his AHL debut in relief on January 2 in Worcester, stopping 11 of 12 shots without receiving a decision. Helenius appeared in two preseason games for the Admirals, going 1-1-0 with a 4.00 goals-against average and .840 save percentage.
In 11 ECHL games this season, Helenius is 4-5-2 with a 3.80 GAA and .896 save percentage. He has gone 1-1-1 in three games with the Sea Wolves, posting a 3.53 GAA and .944 save percentage. The 20-year-old went 3-4-1 in his first eight games of North American professional hockey with the Augusta Lynx this season, recording his first Norfolk American pro win in his North American pro debut, stopping 44 of 46 shots on October 21 at Gwinnett.
Ramo, 22, has appeared in 26 games this season with Norfolk, posting a 7-14-4 record with a 3.78 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage. He has played in three games with the Lightning this season, posting a 1-1-0 record and a .868 save percentage. Ramo earned his first win of the season on January 9, 2009 at Anaheim, making 29 saves on 32 shots faced.
The 6-foot-2, 207-pound native of Asikkala, Finland was drafted by the Lightning in the sixth round, 191st overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. In 27 career appearances with Tampa Bay, Ramo has compiled an 8-12-3 record with a 3.23 goals-against average. He played in a career high 22 games in 2007-08, posting a 7-11-3 record with a 3.03 goals-against average.
The Admirals return to Scope on Friday and Saturday nights to face off against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The puck drops on both nights at 7:15 p.m.
