PHILADELPHIA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins broke open a closely-played game with three third-period goals en route to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms Tuesday night at the Wachovia Spectrum. Reid Cashman's first AHL goal snapped a 1-1 deadlock with 8:49 left in regulation, sending the Penguins to their third win in a row.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton opened the scoring just 3:54 into the opening frame. Ben Lovejoy, controlling the puck at the right point, found Tim Wallace camped out to the right of Scott Munroe and sent an elevated saucer pass that Wallace tipped past Munroe's outstretched leg pad and blocker to give the Pens an early 1-0 lead.

Just 1:35 later, the Phantoms struck back with a goal of their own. Danny Syvret, the AHL's top-scoring defenseman, took a pass from Patrick Maroon and fired a point shot towards Wilkes-Barre/Scranton goaltender John Curry. Curry stopped Syvret's bid but the rebound bounced right to Rob Sirianni, who beat Curry high to the glove side and evened the score at 1-1. The assist was Syvret's 42nd point of the year and propelled him into a first place tie with Jared Ross for the Phantoms scoring lead.

After a scoreless second period, Cashman put the Pens up 2-1 with a slap shot from the blue line that got past a screened Munroe. The goal was Cashman's first of the year and would stand as the game-winner.

With just under two minutes remaining, Wallace picked up his second of the night when he came out from behind the net and beat Munroe through the legs to give the Penguins a 3-1 lead. A minute later, the Penguins would seal the deal with a Joey Mormina empty-netter.

Munroe finished the night with 23 saves on the 26 of Wilkes-Barre's 27 shots he faced, while Curry turned aside 21 of 22 in the win.

The Phantoms return to action this Friday, February 6th against the division rival Hershey Bears at 7:05 at the Wachovia Spectrum. It's the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss, where all fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the game and throw it on the ice when the Phantoms score their first goal. All bears will be collected and donated to area children's hospitals and other charities.

Comcast-Spectacor and the Phantoms are now offering an amazing $10 adult ticket price for all remaining home games for the Phantoms final season at the Wachovia Spectrum, while all tickets for kids 14 and under are now $5.
