Keane to play 1,500th pro game tonight vs. Lake Erie

The Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce today captain Mike Keane will play his 1,500th professional hockey game tonight, February, 3rd, when the Manitoba Moose host the Lake Erie Monsters at MTS Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

In his 21st season of pro hockey and fourth with the Moose this year, Keane, 41, has scored 17 points (6-11-17) and 16 penalty minutes. In his career with the Moose, the Winnipeg, MB native has played in 260 games where he's scored 72 points (25-47-72) and 164 penalty minutes. Back in 2006-07, he was the recipient of the American Hockey League's Fred T. Hunt Award for sportsmanship, determination, and dedication to the game of hockey. That season, Keane was also selected as the captain of the Canadian team at the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto, ON. In his time with the team, he has been named the winner of the Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award (2005-06) and the Toyota Never Quits Hardest-Working Player (2007-08). In 31 Calder Cup playoff games with the Moose in three seasons, he has four goals and three assists for seven points and 17 penalty minutes.

In his previous 20 seasons, Keane has won three Stanley Cups (Montreal '93, Colorado '96, Dallas '99) and played in 1,161 NHL games where he's scored 171 goals and 484 points as well as 947 penalty minutes with Montreal, Colorado, Dallas, the New York Rangers, St. Louis, and Vancouver. He has seen action in 338 career AHL games where he's scored 50 goals and 140 points and collected 234 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Moose, Keane also appeared in 78 games in the American Hockey League with the Sherbrooke Canadiens back in the 1987-88 season. He made his professional debut with the Canadiens back in 1987 and helped Sherbrooke advance to the Calder Cup Final that season where they were defeated by the Rochester Americans.
