Last Week's Games

Thursday, January 29th - Quad City Flames 5 at Milwaukee Admirals 0

Quad City earned a 5-0 win over Houston on Thursday night. Kevin Lalande stopped 24 Houston shots to earn a shutout in his 2008-09 AHL debut. Kris Chucko scored twice in the win while Jamie Lundmark, Kyle Greentree and Adam Cracknell provided solo tallies. The five-goal victory marked the Flames largest winning margin of the season so far. Kris Chucko scored the only goal of the first period when he streaked down right wing and sent a blast into the top near corner of the Aeros cage. Chucko's 14th goal of the year also represented his 31st point of the campaign, a new career high for the third year winger. The tally gave Quad City a 1-0 edge after one period. Quad City took control of the contest with a pair of goals in the middle frame. Chucko netted his second tally of the night when he scored on the rebound from a Kyle Greentree shot at 4:22 of the period. Less than three minutes later, Jamie Lundmark scored to put the Flames in front 3-0. Lundmark broke into the Aeros zone on a 2-on-1 break with Brett Sutter during a stretch of 4-on-4 hockey. Lundmark took the initial shot before scoring on his own rebound to record his 12th goal of the year. The Flames continued to hold that lead as the teams left the ice for the second intermission. The Flames capped the victory with a pair of third period goals. Kyle Greentree tucked home his 22nd tally of the season at 2:20 of the final frame. Adam Cracknell added a power-play goal with 8:02 left in regulation to set the final at 5-0 in favor of Quad City.

Friday, January 30th - Quad City Flames 2 at San Antonio Rampage 4

A San Antonio comeback resulted in a 4-2 defeat for the Flames on Friday night at the AT&T Center. The Rampage scored three times in the third en route to the victory. Kyle Greentree and Brett Palin supplied the goals for Quad City as the team wrapped up a nine-game road trip with a 2-4-1-2 mark. In the first period, the Flames took a 1-0 lead while setting a franchise record for shots on goal in a single period with 25. An early onslaught of Flames chances were turned aside by San Antonio netminder Josh Tordjman. He made 15 saves through the opening 13 minutes of the period with the teams skating at even strength. Shortly after Quad City's John Armstrong was sent off for hooking at 13:12 of the period, a wave of Rampage penalties began. The Flames spent the final six minutes of the period on the power-play with four man advantages including three 5-on-3 power plays. During the first 5-on-3 advantage, Kyle Greentree scored on a shot from the right wing circle. The tally was assisted by Carsen Germyn and Anders Eriksson and stood up as the only goal of the opening 20 minutes. The teams traded power-play goals in the second period. Kevin Porter netted his third goal of the year during a San Antonio man advantage at 7:43 of the middle frame. Porter converted following a goal-mouth scramble in the Flames zone. David Spina failed to convert before Porter recovered the free puck and slammed it past Flames netminder Matt Keetley. Brett Palin put the Flames back in front when he tipped home a beautiful cross-ice feed from Jamie Lundmark during a Flames power play at 15:12 of the second period. It was the fifth goal of the season for Palin and gave the Flames a 2-1 lead at the end of two periods. The Rampage charged back to earn the win with three third period goals. David Spina scored when he tipped home a Chad Kolarik point shot during a Rampage power play just 39 seconds into the frame. The Rampage moved in front for the first time when Kevin Porter netted his second goal of the night with just 6:12 left in regulation. Brett MacLean secured the victory when he scored on a wraparound chance at 17:27 of the closing period.

Saturday, January 31st - Milwaukee Admirals 2 at Quad City Flames 1

A hard fought effort came up a goal short on Saturday night as the Flames fell 2-1 to Milwaukee. Kris Chucko scored his career-high 16th goal of the season in the loss. Milwaukee netminder Drew MacIntyre improved to 4-1-0 vs. the Flames this year as he turned aside 35 Quad City shots. The Admirals took a 1-0 lead when Hugh Jessiman scored the only goal of the opening frame at 8:45 of the first period. Milwaukee's Cal O'Reilly created the play by bursting into the Flames zone with speed and sending a shot on the Flames net. Netminder Leland Irving made the initial save before Patric Hornqvist poked at the rebound. Irving was able to get a piece of Hornqvist's shot to keep the puck out of the net.

However, the puck lay in the blue paint for Jessiman to poke home. The tally was Jessiman's 10th of the season. The Admirals extended their lead by scoring the only goal of the second frame. Patric Hornqvist scored on a one-timer followin
