San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (December 9, 2008) - Nothing can shake or shatter the confidence of these San Antonio Rampage. San Antonio stopped the Rochester Americans Tuesday night at the AT&T Center, 3-2, extending their season long and home winning streak to four games.

While Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman was finishing off Manitoba 1-0 and setting the stage for collecting the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week honor, Amerks goalie Mike Brodeur made his season debut with a 4-0 shutout of Albany on Sunday. The Rampage ended that scoreless streak quickly when Jeff Hoggan fired a wrister high glove-side from the right circle past Brodeur 3:47 into the game for a 1-0 Rampage lead.

It stayed that way till the second when Stefan Meyer redirected one by Tordjman to tie the game at 1-1 just 2:36 into the second.

San Antonio answered back late in the period. Coming out of a timeout, the Rampage controlled the draw to Dylan Reese who found Alex Bourret along the right wall who centered to David Schlemko at the doorstep for a tip in at 15:36 in the second for a 2-1 lead.

San Antonio struck again just over a minute later when Adam Keefe handed off to Simon Ferguson behind the net who then scored on a wraparound to put the Rampage up, 3-1.

The flurry of goals wasn't over. Americans center Janis Sprukts got loose on the charge skating right at Tordjman when Rampage defenseman Matt Jones tracked him down. Sprukts, however, shed Jones and found Kenndal McArdle trailing through the slot for the one-timer cutting San Antonio's lead to 3-2 with 2:40 left in the period.

It stayed that way till 2:09 left in regulation and San Antonio holding onto the 3-2 lead when the glass came crashing down. American forward Michael Duco hit the glass in the neutral zone and the glass exploding into a thousand pieces. After a ten minute delay, San Antonio regrouped and held off Rochester completing the 3-2 win.

The Amerks came into the game the worst penalty killing team in the AHL but held the Rampage in check, 0 for 5. The San Antonio defense did their part, however, holding Rochester 0 for 4, the fourth straight game the Rampage have held their opponent scoreless on the man advantage.

Tordjman saved 13 of 15 to win his fourth straight. The Rampage collide this Thursday with the top team in the AHL, the Hershey Bears. The Bears roll into the AT&T Thursday having won a franchise record 11 straight and will face a San Antonio team just as hot.
