Taffe, Wallace Recalled By Pittsburgh

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forwards Jeff Taffe and Tim Wallace from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Tuesday evening. Additionally, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have recalled forward Tommy Goebel from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).

Taffe, 27, has recorded 29 points (14+15) in 24 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. He ranks among the AHL leaders in goals (tied for third), points (fourth) and game-winning goals (4, tied for second). In parts of two seasons with the AHL club, Taffe has recorded 50 points (25+25) in 51 games.

Taffe has appeared in 146 NHL games with Pittsburgh, Phoenix and the New York Rangers, recording 40 points (20+20). He was signed by Pittsburgh as a free agent on July 13, 2007.

Wallace, 24, has seven points (4+3) in 21 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. Signed as a free agent by Pittsburgh in October 4, 2006, Wallace has recorded 47 points (21+26) and 152 penalty minutes in 127 career games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Anchorage, Alaska native played four seasons at Notre Dame (CCHA), recording 59 points (25+34) in 153 games during four seasons (2002-2006).

Goebel, 24, ranks tied for fourth in the ECHL with 27 points (10+17). His 10 goals are tied for 13th in the league, while his 17 assists are tied for third. He leads all ECHL rookies in points and assists, and ranks tied for fifth among first year players in goals.

Goebel was signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a free agent on August 7, 2008.
