December 9, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON, Texas - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough announced Monday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Krys Kolanos to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Kolanos, 27 (7/27/81), was recalled Saturday for the third time this season and did not play in that night's game against Nashville. Kolanos has recorded 18 points (13-5=18) in 15 games with Houston this season. He is tied for the team lead with a plus-7 rating and three game-winning goals, ranks second on the Aeros in scoring and is tied for sixth in the AHL in goals. The Calgary, Alberta, native has collected a goal and two penalty minutes in two games with Minnesota this season. Kolanos was recalled on Nov. 3 and tallied a goal the next night at San Jose in his first NHL game since Dec. 15, 2005. The goal was his first in the NHL since Nov. 3, 2005 vs. Los Angeles. He was also recalled under emergency conditions by the Wild on Oct. 17 and did not appear in a game. Kolanos has notched 36 points (18-18=36) in 117 career NHL matches with Phoenix, Edmonton and Minnesota.
He was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round (19th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft and signed as a free agent by the Wild on July 11, 2008.
The Aeros host three games at Toyota Center this week starting on Wednesday vs. Rochester, Thursday vs. Quad City and Saturday vs. Hershey. The game on Saturday against the Hershey Bears is the Salvation Army/Aeros' Teddy Bear Toss in which fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals (new or gently used) to the game and throw them on the ice after the Aeros' first goal. The night also marks the third of the six-part series of Aeros Legends bobbleheads. The first 3,000 fans through the Toyota Center doors will receive this legend. Tickets and Holiday Stuffer packages are available to all three games by calling (713) 974-PUCK or visiting AEROS.com.
