
Penguins Recall Darling; Brown Reassigned to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have recalled goaltender Curtis Darling from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced on Tuesday. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned goaltender David Brown from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Wheeling.
Darling, 25, has appeared in 15 games with Wheeling this season, posting a 9-3-3 record with one shutout, a 3.04 goals against average and .907 save percentage.
The Calgary native split last year between Wheeling and Charlotte in the ECHL, while appearing in a pair of American Hockey League games with the Syracuse Crunch and Manchester Monarchs. He combined for a 10-21-3 record with a 3.46 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in 35 ECHL games last season. He made his AHL debut on December 12, 2007, stopping all four shots he faced during 15 minutes of play as Syracuse took a 4-2 win against to the Lake Erie Monsters.
Darling was signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a free agent on August 15, 2008.
Brown, 23, has split this season between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Wheeling. He has posted a 3-1-1 record with a 2.34 goals against average and .928 save percentage with the Nailers, and a 1-2-0 record with a 3.94 goals against average and a .841 save percentage in four games with the Penguins.
A native of Stoney Creek, ON, Brown made his pro debut last season, recording a 6-6-1 record and a 3.31 goals against average in 13 games with Wheeling and a 9-7-1 record and a 2.34 goals against average in 19 games with the Penguins.
A Hobey Baker Award finalist with Notre Dame in 2007, Brown was drafted by Pittsburgh in the eighth round (228th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
