December 9, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans were once again denied their second straight win of the season tonight, falling short to the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 at AT&T Center. The contest jumpstarted a five-game in six-night stretch for the Amerks and was the first of two meetings between the two teams this season.

Jeff Hoggan, David Schlemko and Simon Ferguson each contributed a goal while goaltender Josh Tordjman made 13 saves to guide the hometown Rampage to their fourth straight win.

Rochester was led offensively with goals from Stefan Meyer and Kenndal McArdle, while rookie defenseman Jason Garrison assisted on both tallies. Mike Brodeur made his second consecutive start of the season for the Amerks, posting another 28-save performance as the Amerks were outshot 31-15.

Hoggan opened the scoring 3:47 into the contest with his ninth goal of the season to give the Rampage an early 1-0 lead and the only goal of the first period. Garth Murray and Chad Kolarik each tallied assists on the play.

Rochester responded 2:36 into the second stanza as Meyer netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season to level the score at 1-1. Garrison earned his first assist of the night with the second helper credited to defenseman Franklin MacDonald.

San Antonio would quickly jump out to a 3-1 lead with back-to-back goals from Schlemko and Ferguson just over a minute apart from each other, but the lead was short-lived as McArdle found the back of the net a minute later to cut the Rampage lead in half. Ferguson's first of the year proved to be the game-winner as San Antonio managed to hold Rochester scoreless in the third period to preserve the win.

Rochester remains in the Lone Star State the following night as it visits the Toyota Center to clash with the Houston Aeros in a non-divisional matchup. The 8:05 p.m. EST contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. Houston is currently 11-10-1-2 on the season and sits in sixth place in the West Division with 25 points.
