San Antonio Rampage News Release
CEDAR PARK - The San Antonio Rampage (14-10-6-0) extended their winning streak to three with a 5-4 win over the Texas Stars (14-13-2-2) in front of 5,891 at the Cedar Park Center Saturday night. Joey Hishon scored two goals, including the game-winning goal with 22 seconds left in regulation, to earn the First Star of the Game. Roman Will finished with 44 saves on 48 shots, and Nikita Zadorov recorded a goal and two assists.
The Rampage got on the board first, as Zadorov's blast from the point beat John Muse at 5:23 of the opening period. Dennis Everberg added to San Antonio's lead just over two minutes later, as his shot from the slot trickled past Muse to give the Silver and Black a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Stars cut San Antonio's lead to one early in the middle stanza. Greg Rallo's shot rang off the pipe and landed in front of Roman Will's net, where Radek Faksa was there to backhand the puck in. Travis Morin scored the equalizer near the midway point of the game, but Joey Hishon's cannon from long range at the 16:05 mark of the stanza gave the Silver and Black a 3-2 lead at the end of 40 minutes of play.
The teams combined for 30 shots and four goals in a wild third period. Texas scored a power-play goal early in the final period when Esa Lindell received a cross-ice pass from Morin and scored, tying the game at three. With 7:08 remaining in regulation, Colin Smith potted his 11th goal of the season to once again give San Antonio a one-goal lead. Julius Honka converted off a pass from Morin on the power play just over two minutes later to knot the game at four, the third time of the night that the game would be tied.
With time winding down in regulation, Joey Hishon wristed a shot past Muse to give the Rampage a 5-4 win.
The Rampage finished 1-for-4 on the power play, and the Stars scored two goals on five opportunities with the man advantage. San Antonio was outshot 48-26.
Notes
Saturday's game marked the third multiple point game for Zadorov and the first multiple-goal game for Hishon. Colin Smith extended his goal streak to three games and has recorded at least a point in each of San Antonio's last four contests.
Lineup Notes
Troy Bourke moved up to the Rampage's top line in place of Mikko Rantanen, who is representing Finland at the World Junior Championships. Dan Maggio drew into the lineup, skating on the fourth line with Trevor Cheek and Nick Drazenovic. Roman Will made his sixth start in net.
