Springfield Falcons News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Springfield Falcons tallied the first goal of the game but allowed three straight in a 3-1 loss to the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday night.

The Falcons struck first with a wrist shot goal from Eric Selleck at the end of the first period. The play began from a turnover at center ice where Jon DiSalvatore found Ross Mauermann who entered the offensive zone. He fed Selleck in front of the net who potted his fourth of the season with 2:27 left in the frame. The teams each had 12 shots in the period.

Brian Hart tied the game in the second period with a one-timer at 14:05. Anthony DeAngelo made the initial pass and Daniel Walcott also assisted on the goal. With 1:59 left in the second period, the Crunch grabbed a 2-1 lead with a goal from Tye McGinn. His ninth of the season was a wrist shot past Niklas Treutle on an odd-man rush began by DeAngelo. The period concluded with Syracuse leading 2-1.

Tanner Richard tallied his first goal of the season with a rebound goal just four minutes into the third period. It was the final goal of the night despite the Falcons pulling Treutle in the final three minutes. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves to improve to 4-2-1 and also claimed the game's first star. Treutle stopped 20 shots and fell to 6-6-1.
