San Antonio Rampage News Release
Peoria, Ill -- Rampage goaltender Philippe Sauve made his season debut stopping 34 pucks but the Peoria Rivermen tallied a goal in each period to top San Antonio 3-1 Friday night at Carver Arena. Rookie Daniel Winnik recorded San Antonio's lone goal to prevent Marek Schwarz from collecting his first shutout.
Less than five minutes into the opening period, Charles Linglet and Magnus Kahnberg assisted Peter Sejna in the Rivermen's first of three power-play goals of the night. The Rampage took four shots on goal and racked up 19 penalty minutes on five infractions heading into the second period.
Winnik recorded his second goal in three games, an unassisted goal, to tie the game 1-1 a little over eight minutes into the second period. Four minutes later, Jon DiSalvatore followed up with his third goal in as many games and later proved to be the game winner.
With half of the final period left, Salvatore and Mike Glumac helped David Backes take advantage of the power-play for a two-goal buffer giving Schwarz his first victory of the season.
The Rampage (1-2-0-0) conclude the back-to-back series Saturday against Peoria with a 7 p.m. face-off at Carver Arena.
