Manchester Monarchs News Release

Peter Harrold enters the AHL this year as a rookie, fresh off an illustrious hockey career at Boston College. The 22-year-old Kirtland Hills, Ontario, native spent four years at the prestigious college, captaining the hockey team in the 2005-06 season. In his senior standout season, he led his team to the school's 19th Frozen Four appearance and earned several awards including the Hockey East Defensive Defenseman of the Year and Boston College's John "Snooks" Kelley Award, which is presented to the player that best typifies Boston College hockey. Harrold led all Eagles defensemen in scoring with 30 points (7-23) and a plus/minus of plus-24, ending his college career with 70 points (14 goals, 56 assists) over a span of 154 games.

In addition to his excellence on the ice, Harrold also excelled in the classroom. As a history major, he was a three time Hockey East All-Academic Team selection and captured Boston College's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in 2004 as a sophomore and again in 2006 as a senior.

Known for being a tireless worker, he can play in any type of situation. While some might call him a defensive defenseman, two of the things that make Harrold a great player are his on-ice vision and his awareness. He is also an outstanding skater who transitions well and possesses excellent puck skills. In fact, a goal he scored in 2004 was touted as "(Bobby) Orr-like" in a story in the Boston Globe.

Though Harrold will be striving to find his niche and settle into playing with the pros, there is no doubt that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in his rookie season.
