Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - Despite a record setting five-point effort by rookie forward Alexander Radulov, the Milwaukee Admirals could not get over the hump of a 5-2 deficit and fell to the Chicago Wolves 7-5 Friday night at the Bradley Center. The loss dropped the Admirals record to 0-2 on the season and marked the second straight game that they have surrendered seven goals.

The Admirals got off to a quick start, out-shooting the Wolves 8-1 to start the game, and took a 1-0 lead on Ville Koistinen's first AHL goal at the 15:01 mark of the first. That lead, however, was short lived as Chicago responded with two goals in the next 44 seconds to take a 2-1 advantage.

Two more Wolves' goals, the first at 17:39 by Boris Valabik and the next just 18 seconds into the second period by Colin Stuart, put the Admirals down 4-1. Radulov pulled Milwaukee to within two with his second goal of the season at the 1:21 mark of the second, but Brett Sterling pushed the lead back to three when he found the back of the net at 8:22 and caused Noel to pull Karl Goehring, his starting goaltender.

Milwaukee would rally with goals by Cal O'Reilly, Bracken Kearns, and Koistenen, to tie the score with 15 minutes still to play in the game. The Admirals couldn't complete the comeback, though, as Cory Larose picked up his first marker of the season at 15:42 of the third for the game-winner. Derek MacKenzie fired a shot from the top of the right circle that went wide of the Admirals net and bounced off the boards and right to Larose, who was waiting on the left post for an easy goal.

The final red-lighter of the night would come from Steve Martins with just under 1:30 to go when Milwaukee goaltender Scott Reid got stuck in no-man's land trying to come off the ice in favor of an extra attacker and Martins buried the puck into a semi-open net.

Radulov's five points (1g-4a) set a new record for the Admirals for points in a game since they joined the American Hockey League in 2001. O'Reilly chipped in with a goal and an assist and Koistenen added two goals to pace the Ads offense. Former Admiral Darren Haydar, making his first visit to the Bradley Center since signing with Atlanta in the off-season, had an assist and was +1 on the night.

The Admirals and Wolves finish their home-and-home set tomorrow night at 7:00 pm in Chicago. The Ads next home game is next Friday, October 20th at 7:00 pm versus the Manitoba Moose.
