Rampage Blanked in Milwaukee 4-0

MILWAUKEE - The San Antonio Rampage (11-17-0-2) dropped their third straight game and seventh straight on the road as they fell, 4-0, tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center to the Milwaukee Admirals (13-7-4-1). The shutout is just the second one of its kind against the Rampage this season, with the last one coming Oct. 19 against Texas.

Michael Houser made 24-of-27 saves before getting pulled in favor of Rob Madore at the end of the second period. Madore stopped 4-of-5 in relief. The loss marks the fourth time this season that the Rampage have given up three or more power play goals. In their last nine games, the Rampage have surrendered 16 power play markers.

Defenseman Doug Janik made his Rampage debut in the loss after coming back from injury. The blueliner has 190 NHL games under his belt between Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Dallas, and Detroit.

The Rampage were unable to convert, and went 0-for-6 with the extra man. The Admirals went 3-for-5 on the power play, after converting just four times in their last 10 games. San Antonio outshot Milwaukee, 34-33.

For the fourth game in a row, and the 18th game this season, the Rampage failed to draw first blood. After a relatively tame first period, Milwaukee's Taylor Beck opened the scoring with 4:38 remaining. He broke into the zone with Simon Moser, gaining a 2-on-1, and he snapped one high over Houser's left glove to put his team up, 1-0.

The Rampage held onto their one-goal lead well into the second, but two late power play goals by Milwaukee broke the game open. Vinny Saponari tucked one past Houser at 17:21, and Filip Forsberg followed suit just a 1:02 later, beating Houser again to put the Ads up, 3-0.

Forsberg's goal comes in his first game back after battling a concussion. It sent Houser to the bench, with Madore coming on in relief. Beck's assist on the Saponari tally gave him a two-point night.

The Admirals went up 4-0 just past the halfway point of the third. Barely 10 seconds into a power play, Austin Watson picked up the puck and fed Forsberg, who tapped it home for his second power play tally of the night. The third of the season from Forsberg was assisted by Watson and Miikka Salomaki, giving all three two-point nights.

The Rampage had a late power play chance to end Scott Darling's shutout bid, but were unable to convert, and took the loss, 4-0.
