Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Worcester Sharks limited the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to just eight shots through the first forty minutes before holding in the third period for a 4-1 win at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Sharks took a 1-0 lead at 6:14 of the first period on their second power play of the game. Freddie Hamilton accepted a pass from Bracken Kearns and skated to the right slot before releasing a shot that beat Eric Hartzell to the blocker side.
Worcester doubled its lead early in the second frame when Jimmy Bonneau's turnaround shot from the near circle ricocheted off a stick into the top corner of the Penguins net at 2:41 of the period.
The Penguins found their offensive stride in the third, but were repeatedly denied by Sharks goalie Harri Sateri. That allowed Worcester to make the score, 3-0, in their favor at 9:36 as Marek Viedensky set up in front of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton crease and redirected Sena Acolatse's point shot over the shoulder of Hartzell.
Nick Drazenovic broke up the shutout bid with 2:30 remaining in the contest when he was hooked from behind on a breakaway. On the ensuing penalty shot, Drazenovic threw a shoulder fake on Sateri before firing a shot inside the left post for his fourth goal of the season.
Dan DaSilva added an empty-net goal for the Sharks with 10.2 seconds left in regulation.
Hartzell falls to 4-2-0 on the season after turning aside 16-of-19 shots. Sateri made 24 saves for the Sharks.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins take the ice for their final game before the holiday break as they host the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the action on MyNetwork TV or the Sports Hub 102.
