Rampage Announce 2007-08 Schedule Format
May 30, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (May 30, 2007) - The San Antonio Rampage will face all three of the American Hockey League's new teams during the 2007-08 regular season as the league's schedule format was announced on Wednesday. The top affiliate for the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes will face 18 opponents-up three from last season.
The Quad City Flames (Calgary) and the Rockford IceHogs (Chicago) will join the Rampage in a new look West Division featuring the AHL's only eight-team division along with the Chicago Wolves (Atlanta), Houston Aeros (Minnesota), Iowa Stars (Dallas), Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville) and the Peoria Rivermen (St. Louis). The Rampage will play in an unbalanced schedule that is heavily weighted around divisional play with 54 of their 80-game season against the West Division.
In the new 29-team AHL divisional alignment, San Antonio will face the Lake Erie Monsters (Colorado) twice at the AT&T Center. Lake Erie joins the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit), 2007 Western Conference Champion Hamilton Bulldogs (Montreal), Manitoba Moose (Vancouver), Rochester Americans (Buffalo/Florida), Syracuse Crunch (Columbus) and the Toronto Marlies (Toronto) in the North Division.
The Rampage will take on the Portland Pirates (Anaheim) and the Springfield Falcons (Edmonton) for the first time. They join the Hartford Wolf Pack (NY Rangers) and the Worcester Sharks (San Jose) in the Atlantic Division. San Antonio will not play any teams from the East Division.
The format for the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs will be determined at the league's Annual Meeting next month and the schedule for the AHL's 72nd season is expected to be announced later in the summer. The AHL's Calder Cup Final series begins Friday night featuring Hamilton and the Hershey Bears.
Rampage season tickets and game plans are now available for the 2007-08 campaign. Season tickets continue to start at $7 per game. Fans can purchase full, half and 10-game flex packages that all include numerous benefits. For more information, please visit sarampage.com or call 210.444.5554.
