May 30, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA - Today, the Norfolk Admirals announced their schedule of opponents for the 2007-08 season. There will be no changes in the schedule format from the 2006-07 season to the 2007-08 season. Also today, American Hockey League CEO Dave Andrews announced the divisional alignment for the 2007-08 season.
The schedule will feature ten contests each (five at Scope and five on the road) that pit the Admirals against their East Division rivals the Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals), Philadelphia Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins).
Norfolk will face off eight times (four home/four away) against the Albany River Rats (Carolina Hurricanes), Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders) to round out the East Division docket.
The Admirals will play four matches each (two home/two road) against Atlantic Division foes the Hartford Wolf Pack (New York Rangers), Lowell Devils (New Jersey Devils), Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings), Portland Pirates (Anaheim Ducks), Springfield Falcons (Edmonton Oilers) and Worcester Sharks (San Jose Sharks). The Admirals will also face the Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins) twice (one home/one road) to round out their Atlantic Division contests.
The complete 2007-08 regular season schedule will be released by early August.
The American Hockey League will see 29 teams take the ice in 2007-08 - an all-time high. The Eastern Conference, consisting of the East Division and Atlantic Division, will not see any changes from the 2006-07 season. The Lake Erie Monsters will join the North Division of the Western Conference. In the West Division of Western Conference, the Quad City Flames (replacing the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights) and Rockford IceHogs will be added. A complete AHL Conference and Divisional Alignment follows.
