AHL, Sharks Announce League Alignment and Opponents For 2007-08 Season

The Worcester Sharks along with American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that the league's Board of Governors has approved the following conference and division alignment for the AHL's 2007-08 season:

The 2007-08 Conferences and Divisions will be as follows:

Eastern Conference

The new alignment showcases a 29-team league which becomes an American Hockey League all-time high. The Worcester Sharks will play 80 regular season games with 40 games on home-ice at the DCU Center and 40 games on the road.

Team Teal will play the traditional five home and five road games against Atlantic Division foes (Lowell, Manchester, Portland, Providence and Springfield) with the exception of the Hartford Wolf Pack who they will play four times at home and four in Hartford.

In addition, Worcester will again play East Division opponents Albany, Bridgeport and Norfolk four times (two home, two away). Additional opponents this season from the division are the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and the Philadelphia Phantoms for two games each (one home, one away).

For the second season in a row, the Houston Aeros and San Antonio Rampage will be the only Western Conference teams the Worcester Sharks will play (one home, one away).
