West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

DAYTON, OH - The West Michigan Whitecaps and Dayton Dragons had Mother Nature intercede far too often on Wednesday night as their game was suspended in the fifth inning of a 7-0 Whitecaps lead at Fifth Third Field.

West Michigan opened the scoring in the third when Cole Peterson plated a pair with a two-run triple to take a 2-0 lead. Rey Rivera's sacrifice fly extended the lead to 3-0, but the fifth inning was interrupted with a rain delay lasting nearly three hours. Upon resuming the game, Dragons pitcher Max Wotell walked four batters and gave up a grand slam to Dylan Rosa before being removed from the game.

Whitecaps pitcher Jesus Rodriguez tossed four scoreless innings before the rain delay while allowing just one hit and struck out four. The total amount of rain delays was 3:04. Wednesday's game will be resumed on Thursday at 6 pm, followed by a seven-inning game scheduled to begin 30 minutes after the first game concludes.
