
RailRiders bats slow down Pigs

(Moosic, PA) - The bats for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (17-7) did the job on Wednesday evening at PNC Field as they scored 10 runs and registered 12 hits in their 10-2 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (14-12).
The IronPigs scored first in the top of the second inning when Scott Kingery hit a sacrifice fly against Adam Warren. The RailRiders tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Thomas Milone hit an RBI triple against Adonis Medina (3-2) to score Rob Brantly.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored two more runs to take a 3-1 lead against Medina in the bottom of the third inning when Socrates Brito hit a two-run home run. Medina allowed two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Chris Gittens hit an RBI single to score Milone and Brito hit a sacrifice fly to score Hoy Jun Park.
Brady Lail allowed five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Park hit a three-run home run that was followed by a two-run home run by Trey Amburgey. He lasted just 2/3 of an inning before Jeff Singer entered the game and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the IronPigs.
Enyel De Los Santos struck out three batters in the bottom of the eighth inning for the IronPigs. Mickey Moniak hit an RBI single against Reggie McClain in the top of the ninth inning to give the Pigs their second run of the game.
Albert Abreu (1-0) earned his first win of the season by pitching 3 2/3 innings and struck out six batters.
The Pigs and RailRiders play at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday evening at PNC Field.
