Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

DES MOINES, Iowa - First baseman Nick Pratto hit a game-tying home run in the sixth inning for his sixth home run in his last eight games to help lead the Omaha Storm Chasers to a 3-2 win over the Iowa Cubs on Thursday at Principal Park. It was the third win of the series for Omaha (54-44) and the team's fifth win in the last six games.

Pratto's blast-a solo shot down the right-field line-came on the seventh pitch of his at-bat against Iowa (42-57) right-hander Dillon Maples and extended his hitting streak to nine games. It was his 12th home run at the Triple-A level and his 27th of the season. The home run was also Pratto's 56th extra-base hit of the season, a mark that now leads all of Minor League Baseball.

The Storm Chasers took the lead in the eighth inning against right-hander Marcus Walden (Loss, 6-4). Shortstop Adalberto Mondesi, playing in a rehab game with Omaha, reached on an infield single, stole second and third, and later scored on a groundout by designated hitter Ryan McBroom.

Right-hander Jace Vines (Win, 6-4), left-hander Gabe Speier, and right-hander Tyler Zuber (Save, 7) combined for 4.0 scoreless innings to stave off the I-Cubs.

Iowa scored first, taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run homer by Trayce Thompson against left-hander Jake Kalish. The home run was one of two hits that Kalish allowed through 5.0 innings. He struck out six and walked three while completing at least 5.0 innings for the third time in four starts.

Omaha cut the deficit in half in the second inning. After centerfielder Kyle Isbel walked, left-fielder Dairon Blanco smashed an RBI double off the centerfield fence.

The Storm Chasers continue their series against the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, when right-hander Jackson Kowar (8-4, 3.45) faces Iowa right-hander Mike Hauschild (0-6, 6.30). First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. CT coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. CT with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.

Following a week-long series against the Iowa Cubs, the Storm Chasers return to Werner Park to host the Toledo Mud Hens (DET) for six games from August 31-Sept. 5.
