
Redbirds Drop Thursday Night Affair against Columbus

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The Memphis Redbirds lost for the second straight night to the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A affiliate, Cleveland Indians), falling 12-3 on a sunny Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
Johan Oviedo started for Memphis (46-53), allowing five earned runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings. Overall, it was a banner evening for Columbus (46-51) batters, as they rapped out 17 hits en route to their 12 runs. Every single batter in their starting lineup reached base and six different players had at least two hits. Notably, Gabriel Arias had two doubles and Nolan Jones had three hits and scored three runs.
Nick Plummer was the highlight of the game for the Redbirds. The former first-round pick reached base four times, smacking two singles and driving in a run in the process. Brendan Donovan also drove in two via an RBI double in the second innings.
The Memphis Redbirds are the proud Triple-A Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Memphis has claimed four League Championships and one Triple-A National Championship since their affiliation with St. Louis began in 1998.
