WooSox Hold Buffalo In-Check, Defeating Herd, 4-1

Buffalo Bisons News Release
Unlike the prior three games of the series at Sahlen Field, where Buffalo and Worcester combined for 32 runs, the two clubs started out slow, with pitching dominating the game. In front of 7,233 fans, the teams were held scoreless through five innings, but the Woo Sox' power that was displayed earlier in the series carried the opposing club to victory yet again, beating the Bisons 4-1.
Thomas Hatch started on the mound for the Herd and was in command throughout the early portion of the game. Through the first five innings, Hatch struck out eight batters, while holding Worcester to zero runs. The Woo Sox finally got to the right-hander in the top of the 6th. With runners on the corners and two outs, Josh Ockimey homered to right field. The three-run home run gave Worcester a 3-0 lead over Buffalo.
Unfortunately for the Herd, Kutter Crawford also came out of the gates hot for Worcester. Crawford was pitching a perfect game through five innings, but just as quickly as the WooSox jumped on Hatch, the Herd jumped on the right-hander.
Cullen Large led off the bottom of the 6th with a single, ending Kutter Crawford's bid for a perfect game. With one out, Logan Warmoth hit a ground ball to third baseman Chad De La Guerra, and what seemed to be an inning-ending double play switched into the Herd's favor. De La Guerra committed a throwing error, launching the ball over the second baseman's glove and into right field. Large took advantage of the opportunity for the Herd and sped around the bases to score from first base.
Leading by just two runs, the WooSox came to the plate in the top of the 7th looking to add some runs to their lead. Connor Wong did just that for the club. With one out, Wong was given the green light on a count that featured three balls and no strikes. The slugger took advantage of the opportunity, launching a solo home run to left field, expanding the Worcester lead to three runs.
In the bottom of the 7th, it seemed as if the Herd were going to respond yet again to the Worcester offense. With Tyler White on first base, Danny Jansen launched a ball to deep left field, but Franchy Cordero caught the ball at the wall. White was with the rest of Sahlen Field, who thought the ball was going over the fence and got caught rounding second base. Cordero fired the ball back into the infield and doubled up White to get the second out of the inning.
The Herd failed to rally throughout their final two at-bats, dropping the fourth game in the series.
"Tomorrow is a new day," said Bisons' manager Casey Candaele. 'It's not for a lack of effort. Our guys are battling, and we are playing hard."
The Bisons (56-40) and Woo Sox (53-46) will play game five of the series on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm. Casey Lawrence is scheduled to start on the mound for Buffalo.
