
Power lose doubleheader

(Charleston, WV) The West Virginia Power were swept in a doubleheader with the Delmarva Shorebirds on Saturday night, falling in the first contest 6-4 and the nightcap, 14-5. The Power extended their franchise-high 13-game losing streak in the twinbill.
In game one, it was the Shorebirds who raced out to the early advantage behind a leadoff solo blast from Mike Yastrzemski and a Trey Mancini sacrifice fly. Yastrzemski hit two solo home runs in the game. Delmarva tacked on two more in the sixth and two in the seventh to pull away from West Virginia. The Power fought back with four in the bottom half on a Wyatt Mathisen RBI single and a Kawika Emsley-Pai two-run home run. West Virginia's comeback, however, would fall short.
Game two would see the Shorebirds dominate early on. Delmarva scored three times in the first followed by five in the second highlighted by a RBI doubles from Trey Mancini and Chance Sisco. The 'Birds put two more on the board in the fourth and fifth before West Virginia fought back with two in the fifth on a Reese McGuire solo dinger followed by a Mathisen RBI double. The Power added two more in the sixth with an Edwin Espinal RBI double.
Power southpaw Cody Dickson (2-8) was charged with the loss in game one while Steven Brault (7-2) earned the win. In game two, Dovydas Neverauskas (3-5) was tagged with the defeat and Austin Urban (3-4) vultured the win. Edwin Espinal posted a three-hit game in the second affair while Reese McGuire posted his first professional home run.
