PREVIEW: The Shorebirds continued their limp to the finish line of the first half with their sixth straight defeat on Wednesday. Hickory handed Delmarva their first sweep at home with a 5-3 final in the series closer. Solo home runs by Gregory Lorenzo and Chance Sisco were not enough as Mitch Horacek took a loss after three consecutive wins without an earned run.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Cody Dickson will start the opener for the West Virginia Power. Dickson is just 2-7 with a 5.60 ERA in 12 starts for the Power this season. The left-hander has not previously faced Delmarva, and he has lost his last six decisions. Dickson's last win came on April 16th vs. Asheville. The Pirates drafted Dickson in the 4th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Sam Hous- ton State University.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles dropped game two with the Toronto Blue Jays to even their series at one game apiece. The O's outhit the Jays, 9 to 4, but they were shutout in a 4-0 final score. The loss dropped Baltimore to 3rd place in the AL East, behind both Toronto and the New York Yankees. Currently, the O's stand 4 1/2 games back in the division.

THE IRON IS HOT: 20 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

MIKE YASTRZEMSKI | OF

Yastrzemski, along with four other Shorebirds (Dosch, Harvey, Va- der and Yacabonis) was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game. Yastrzemski cur- rently leads the league in triples with 10, and out- field assists with 11. His two home-run game last week in Hagerstown as the first multi-HR game for a Shorebird this year.

WHO'S HOT - JON KELLER

The Shorebirds reliever has been a key part of the impressive Delmarva bullpen. Since allowing five runs in his first 4 appearances, Keller has given up just one run in his last 12 outings, with at least 2 Ks every time out.

WHO ELSE - TREY MANCINI

The Shorebirds first baseman had a 17-game hitting streak snapped on Saturday. Mancini is second on the team with 38 RBIs, while leading the team in batting average (.315) and hits (81).
