Hagerstown, MD - With terrific pitching and timely hitting, the Greenville Drive (34-34) took down the Hagerstown Suns (43-26) 3-1 on Saturday night for their fourth consecutive victory.

Greenville's starting pitching has been outstanding of late, and Joe Gunkel (3-0) continued that trend, firing six shutout innings for the victory. He allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out six.

Lucas Giolito (2-1) put together a good outing for the Suns, giving up just one run in five innings. He made one mistake, and Carlos Asuaje made him pay, smacking a solo homer to right in the second inning to put the Drive up 1-0.

The Drive added a pair of runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-0 lead. Forrestt Allday led off the frame with a bunt single and moved to third on a throwing error. A Jantzen Witte sacrifice fly scored Allday, and Manuel Margot's two-out single later in the inning plated another run.

Hagerstown got on the board in the seventh against Drive reliever Mario Alcantara on an RBI single by James Yezzo with two outs, but Taylor Grover came in and got a foulout to end the frame.

Grover hurled the final two innings as well to complete the game and earn his first save of the season. Asuaje and Margot each collected two hits for Greenville.

The Drive will send LH Trey Ball (1-5, 7.12) to the mound on Sunday afternoon as they look to end the first half with a series sweep. The Suns will counter with RH Austin Voth (4-3, 2.23) for the 5:05 contest.
