
Charleston Pitchers Fan 15 in 3-1 Win over Legends

Charleston starter Luis Severino allowed three hits in six innings and the RiverDogs made an early lead stand up in a 3-1 victory over the Lexington Legends in front of 6,770 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Saturday night. Severino struck out eight batters, and relievers Evan Rutckyj and Philip Walby combined for seven more strikeouts.
Charleston scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Michael O'Neill led off with a double and scored on a single by Tyler Wade. Wade moved to second as Aaron Judge reached first on a throwing error by third baseman Mauricio Ramos, and scored on a single by Dustin Fowler.
The Legends, who had five hits in the game, scored their only run in the bottom of the first on a double by Ramon Torres and a two-out single by Elier Hernandez.
The RiverDogs added their final run in the third when Judge singled and scored on a double by Reymond Nunez.
Severino (3-2) earned his third victory as he struck out eight batters and walked one. Rutckyj allowed one hit over two innings and struck out four batters. Walby struck out the side in the ninth, picking up his fourth save.
The two teams will meet again Sunday in the final game of the first half of the South Atlantic League season. Charleston has won two of the first three games in the series.
