Portland Sea Dogs News Release

(Portland, ME) - RHP Adam Mills (2-4) earned his first career win at Hadlock Field, firing six scoreless frames in Portland's (32-31) 5-0 win over the Erie SeaWolves (35-28) in the series opener on Tuesday night in front of 5,254 fans. 2B Ryan Khoury (2-for-4, HR, RBI) and 3B Jorge Jimenez (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) each homered for the Sea Dogs, who picked up their second team shutout in the past four games.

Mills retired 18 of 19, yielding a lead-off triple to LF Deik Scram in the fourth but retired 3B Mike Hollimon, RF Brennan Boesch and 1B Ryan Strieby to end the threat. The righty finished with a Double-A- career-high of eight strikeouts, including five straight in the first two innings. The victory for Mills was his first since May 3 at Connecticut - he now has three straight quality starts in June.

Portland's first run of the homestand was provided by the power of

Khoury to lead-off the third inning. The second-year Sea Dog lined a

homer off the CITGO Sign in left field, giving the ‘Dogs a 1-0 lead.

The blast was the first for Khoury this season (last came on August 14, 2008 vs. Altoona). Jimenez greeted RHP Jonah Nickerson (4-5) in the fourth inning by smacking the first pitch into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right field. Nickerson took the loss for the SeaWolves, surrendering 4 runs on 9 hits over 7+ IP.

RHP Chris Province notched his 6th hold of the season with two scoreless frames (H, SO) and RHP Bryce Cox wrapped up the victory by working the ninth.

C Mark Wagner (2-for-3, RBI, 2B) gave Portland a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning with a sac-fly to left field. The rally started on consecutive singles by Khoury and RF Reid Engel - CF Josh Reddick (1-for-4, 2B) advanced Khoury to third base with a fly out to center field. In the eighth inning, Wagner doubled and scored on Jimenez's 2-base hit - on the same play, Jimenez scored on a double error by RF Boesch and 2B Danny Worth.

1B Lars Anderson went 3-for-4 and DH Jon Still singled in the eighth inning for the Sea Dogs, who racked up 12 hits on the night.

Portland and Erie meet in game two of their 3-game series on Wednesday night from Hadlock Field beginning at 7:00 PM.
