June 16, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- Scorch, the afternoon host from 2:00pm-7:00pm on Rock 101/WGIR-FM, is currently living in a crate on the concourse just outside the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 24 hours a day until this Friday, June 19, at 5:00pm, as part of his Pause for the Cause promotion to raise money for three local animal organizations: Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter, the Humane Society for Greater Nashua and the Concord-Merrimack SPCA. Fans are invited to visit Scorch from 7:00am until two hours before each night's scheduled Fisher Cats' game, and until 1:00am following the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Fisher Cats' games, to donate money to the cause.
"Scorch is certainly a very caring individual with a devoted following, so he is going above and beyond in a very unique way to help support three important causes," said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "We are happy to provide him with shelter for a few days and nights and hope our fans and his audience will be generous when coming to the ballpark this week."
"We at Rock 101 are very pleased that the Fisher Cats agreed to host Pause for the Cause this year," said Clear Channel Vice President and General Manager Joe Graham. "With their great fan base and commitment to the local community, we are excited about the opportunity to exceed last year's fundraising total."
Any fans purchasing tickets for the Fisher Cats/Akron Aeros doubleheader on Wednesday, June 17, who mention Scorch, Rock 101 or Pause for the Cause will have $3 of each ticket purchased for the twinbill donated back to Pause for the Cause. Fans can also purchase tickets in person at the stadium ticket office (9:30am-7th inning of Fisher Cats' game), by calling (603) 641-2005 and online at www.nhfishercats.com/specials/scorch.
Game one of Wednesday's twi-night doubleheader begins at 6:05pm. Each game is seven innings, and game two will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opening contest. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Fisher Cats Hat, courtesy of Mt. Washington Assurance.
