ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves begin a six-game road trip and a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) at Hadlock Field. The SeaWolves have won two straight games heading into the Portland series. Erie took down New Hampshire on Sunday, 7-2, picking up the club's second consecutive series win. Erie, after starting the season with 56 consecutive games against the EL South, are in a stretch of 12 straight games against the EL North. The ‘Wolves took two of three from Portland at Jerry Uht Park last week. The ‘Wolves outscored the Sea Dogs 17-7 in the three-game series...The ‘Wolves are currently in third place in the Southern Division, 5.5 games behind first place Akron and two games behind second place Reading. The ‘Wolves have struggled on the road this season (11-15 away from "The Uht"). Erie has dropped seven of its last 11 road games...The Sea Dogs are in fourth place in the Northern Division, 3.5 games out of first place. Portland dropped two of three against Akron over the weekend and went 2-4 on its recent road trip...Righty Jonah Nickerson takes the mound for the Howlers, making his 13th appearance and 12th start of the season. Nickerson tossed 6.2 shutout innings in Erie's 3-0 win over the Sea Dogs last Wednesday. He allowed just five hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Since returning to the rotation on May 30, Nickerson has allowed just three earned runs in his last 20.2 innings...Righty Adam Mills takes the mound for the Sea Dogs. The SeaWolves beat Mills on June 10. In the game, he allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in six innings of work.

- Erie leads the season series over Portland 2-1. The SeaWolves and Sea Dogs meet six times in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.67 team ERA. Portland is 11th in the EL with a 4.68 team ERA.

- Erie is tied for the league lead with a .272 team batting average. Portland is sixth in the league hitting .262 as a team.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 74 home runs and 316 runs scored. Erie has hit 17 more home runs that the next closest team (Harrisburg with 57).

- Ryan Strieby leads the league with 14 home runs and 42 runs scored. He is second with a .569 slugging percentage and is fourth with 43 RBI.

- Scott Sizemore has been promoted to Triple-A Toledo. Taking his place on the Erie roster is Danny Worth. Worth played in 41 games for Toledo and hit .212 with four RBI.
