Ottawa - The International League announced yesterday that Lynx RHP Hayden Penn was named Pitcher of the Week for the period of August 21-27. Penn is the first member of the Lynx to win a weekly award this season.

Last week, Penn won both his starts, allowing only one run and striking out 18 batters over 13.2 innings. Penn's first start of the week came Monday against Pawtucket. He allowed one run over 5.2 innings striking out what was then a season-high eight Paw Sox to earn his sixth win. He topped himself Saturday night, shutting out Syracuse and striking out 10 SkyChiefs over 8.0 innings of work. Penn has heated up in August, going 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA and striking out 39 batters in 36.2 innings.

This is the 21-year-old's first Triple-A Pitcher-of-the-Week honour. He is 7-4 with a 2.26 ERA this season and is second on the team in strikeouts.
