Durham Bulls News Release

Durham, NC - The Durham Bulls today announced New York Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano is scheduled to pitch against the Bulls on a major league rehabilitation stint when the Columbus Clippers come to Durham on Wednesday, August 29th. Pavano signed a four year, $39 million deal with the Yankees prior to the 2005 season, but missed most of that season and has yet to appear in a game this season with New York due to injuries to his shoulder, back, buttocks and elbow. He recently made headlines for neglecting to inform the team that he had been in a car accident two weeks ago that fractured two of his ribs, further delaying his comeback.

In his eight-year career with Montreal, Florida and New York, Pavano has compiled a 61-64 record with a 4.25 ERA in 184 appearances. He was a member of the 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins, starting in Game 4 of the World Series, and his best season was in 2004, when he posted a 18-8 record with a 3.00 ERA with the Marlins.

Originally a 13th round pick by the Boston Red Sox in the 1994, Pavano was sent to Montreal in the 1997 trade that brought Pedro Martinez to Boston. He made his Major League debut in 1998 and was traded to Florida in 2002.

Tickets are available for the 7:00 PM game between the Bulls and Clippers at the Durham Bulls Box office, by phone at (919) 956-BULL or online at www.durhambulls.com.
