FORT MILL, S.C. - The International League announced today that three members of the Charlotte Knights have been named to the 2006 International League All-Star team, the most of any team in the International League. Knights' starting third basemen Josh Fields, starting pitcher Heath Phillips and shortstop Jorge Velandia were all named to the International League All-Star team for the second time this season.

Josh Fields and Heath Phillips were also awarded with International League "Special Awards". Fields was named Rookie-of-the-Year and Heath Phillips was named Most Valuable Pitcher. Fields becomes the third Knights player to be named Rookie-of-the-Year (Billy McMillon-'96, Aaron Miles-'03) while Heath Phillips becomes the first Knights' pitcher to be named Most Valuable Pitcher.

Fields, 23, is batting .308 (138-448) with 28 stolen bases, 19 homeruns and 68 RBI's in 119 games in 2006. Fields' 308 batting average currently ranks fourth in the International League while his 138 hits also place him in fourth place. Also, with one more homerun Fields will become the first Knights player to reach the 20/20 club since Todd Dunwoody accomplished the feat back in 1997.

Phillips, 24, appeared in 25 games with the Knights in 2006 and started 24 of those games prior to joining Team USA on August 16. In those 25 games, Phillips went a combined 13-5 with a 2.96 ERA in 155.0 innings. Phillips is currently tied with teammate Charlie Haeger for the most wins in the International League with 13 and his 2.96 ERA is currently third best in the league. The 10th round pick in the 2000 draft was also the winning pitcher in the 2006 Triple-A All Star game.
