Parrish, Szczechura, Mihalik And Lashoff Return To Admirals From Tampa Bay

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have returned right wing Mark Parrish, center Paul Szczechura, defenseman Vladimir Mihalik and defenseman Matt Lashoff to the Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today.

Parrish, 33, is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward from Bloomington, Minnesota. In 51 games with the Admirals, Parrish has 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points and a plus-4 rating. He remains the team leader in game-winning goals (5) and is fourth on the club in points despite not playing with Norfolk since being recalled on March 1. Parrish has only appeared in 57 career AHL games between the Admirals, Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Beast of New Haven, scoring 18 goals and 39 points.

After beginning the season on a Professional Tryout Contract with the Admirals, Parrish was signed to an NHL contract by Tampa Bay on February 8. In 16 games with the Lightning this season, Parrish registered two assists and four penalty minutes.

A veteran of ten NHL seasons, Parrish has appeared in 720 career NHL games between the Lightning, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars, recording 216 goals and 171 assists in those games. Parrish, who appeared in the 2002 NHL All-Star Game, was originally a third round draft pick (79th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Szczechura, 24, a 5-foot-10, 184-pound center from Brantford, Ontario, has appeared in 30 games with the Admirals this season. He has recorded seven goals and 26 points with Norfolk. His 0.87 points-per-game average ranks second on Norfolk this season. Szczechura has played in 130 career AHL games between Norfolk and the Iowa Stars. He has amassed 39 goals and 93 points in those games.

Szczechura has appeared in 52 games with the Lightning this season and has scored five goals and seven points. He made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in 31 games and recording four goals with nine points. He ranked second among Tampa Bay rookies in goals, assists and points. In 83 career NHL games with the Lightning he has nine goals and 16 points. Originally undrafted, the Lightning signed Szczechura as a free agent on April 24, 2008.

Mihalik, 23, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound defenseman from Presov, Slovakia, has played in 70 games with Norfolk this season, recording two goals and 17 points. His +8 rating ranks third overall and is second among Norfolk defensemen. Mihalik also ranks third among Norfolk rearguards in points. He has played in 199 career AHL games, all with Norfolk, recording five goals and 48 points with a plus-13 rating.

Mihalik appeared in four games with the Lightning after being recalled on March 27. He has played in 15 career NHL games, all with the Lightning. Mihalik has amassed three career points, all assists. He was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 30th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Lashoff, 23, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman from East Greenbush, New York, has appeared in 66 games with Norfolk this season, scoring seven goals and 23 points with 94 penalty minutes. He also has four power play goals and one game-winning goal. He ranks second among club defensemen in scoring and ranks second overall in penalty minutes. Lashoff has skated in 232 career AHL games between Norfolk and the Providence Bruins, tallying 33 goals and 118 points.

Lashoff appeared in two games with the Lightning after being recalled on March 31 and was scoreless with 15 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 60 career NHL games between the Lightning and Boston Bruins, scoring one goal and 15 points. A 2005 first-round draft choice (22nd overall) of the Bruins, the Lightning acquired Lashoff from Boston on March 4, 2009 with Martins Karsums in exchange for Mark Recchi and second-round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Admirals will play their final two road games of the 2009-10 regular season tonight and tomorrow as they visit Binghamton tonight at 7:05 and Hershey tomorrow at 6:00. Both games will air on STAR 1310-AM, star1310.comand ahllive.com.

The Admirals will conclude their 2009-10 regular season next week with a three-game homestand beginning Wednesday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
