Ford Stands Tall In Pirates Win

Bridgeport, CT - Todd Ford made 28 saves to lead the Portland Pirates to a 3-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in an American Hockey League game played tonight at Arena at Harbor Yard.
Mark Mancari registered a goal and an assist in Portland's six consecutive victory while Kyle Wanvig and Derek Whitmore also scored. Paul Byron collected two assists as the Pirates also extended their points streak to 10 games (8-0-1-1). The Pirates are now 44-22-6-4 on the season.
Sean Bentivoglio netted the lone goal for Bridgeport, who dropped to 36-31-4-6.
Wanvig gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead after one as he connected on a power play midway through the opening period. That goal stood until five minutes into the third when Bentivoglio tied the game. Mancari answered on the power play five minutes with what turned out to be the game winner. Whitmore hit the empty net to complete the scoring.
The Sound Tigers out shot the Pirates 29-17 in the game.

The Pirates wrap up weekend action tomorrow (Sunday) when the Providence Bruins visit the CCCC for a 4 p.m. start. Celebrate Easter with the Pirates as the Easter Bunny will be in attendance to take pictures and interact with kids and, in the spirit of the holiday, the Good Sheppard Food Bank will be collecting food items for the less fortunate. Donate a non-perishable food item and receive two free tickets to the Pirates regular season finale against Worcester on Sunday, April 11th. The Pirates will also welcome all Student Achievers and their families from across the state to the game.
