Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Evgeny Dadonov and newcomer Maxime Gratchev each scored in the shootout and goaltender Tyler Plante stopped all four shots to help the Rochester Americans to a 4-3 shootout win over the North Division-leading Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at Copps Coliseum. The matchup was the 10th and final meeting this season between the longtime divisional foes. With the win, Rochester has now won three straight and four of its last five to improve to 43-31-2-1.

The first period was a game of goaltending as Plante, making his fifth straight start tonight, was perfect on all eight shots he's faced through the first 20 minutes of play. His counterpart, 2010 AHL All-Star goaltender Cedrick Desjardins, was also impenetrable, turning away all of Rochester's nine shots in the opening frame.

The two teams made up for an uneventful first period, combining for five goals in the second. After a scoreless first, Rochester struck early in the second stanza, just 57 seconds to be exact, as Graham Mink beat Desjardins to give the visiting Amerks a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Matt Duffy, in his first game back in the lineup since being recalled from the ECHL's Florida Everblades, assisted on the play as well as Dadonov. The power-play goal was Mink's 19th of the year and the third in the past two games as the veteran forward extended his point streak to four games.

The Amerks quickly doubled their lead less than three minutes later with David Brine's 13th goal at 3:42 from Andrew Sweetland and Michal Repik that made it a 2-0 game.

Hamilton sliced Rochester's lead in half as Dany Masse beat Plante to put the hometown Bulldogs on the board at 8:05. Hunter Bishop and Maxime Lacroix each assisted on Masse's third of the season.

Jamie Johnson broke a three-game goal scoring drought on the power-play to restore Rochester's two-point cushion with his 25th marker at 12:47 of the period. Repik collected his second point of the night with the lone assist to help the Amerks take a 3-1 lead. Repik would finish the game with two points en route to first star honors.

The Bulldogs again closed the gap to one goal, making it a 3-2 game, as David Desharnais scored three minutes later at 15:45, with assists going to Ryan White and All-Rookie team defenseman P.K. Subban.

With Desjardin on the bench and an extra attacker on the ice, Brock Trotter tied the game with 50 seconds left to force overtime, and ultimately the shootout, where Rochester prevailed for its third straight win.

Rochester returns to Van Andel Arena for the second time in as many weeks on Wednesday, April 7th to close its season series with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 7:00 p.m. contest will be the final get-together between the two teams and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
