Parkview Field Hosts First On-Field Wedding
August 19, 2011 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - Another first at Parkview Field will take place on Saturday, August 20th as the ballpark hosts its first on-field wedding ceremony. Jodie Schrader and John Wasson will tie the knot in front of family and friends. This couple will go down in history as the first pair to be married on the infield of Parkview Field.
"This wedding has been a thrill to plan," stated Holly Raney, Parkview Field Special Events Manager. "The couple has been so much fun from the first day of planning. They wanted a baseball themed wedding and that is certainly what they are getting. We've done weddings in Parkview Field's amphitheater before and receptions on the suite level or Lincoln Financial Event Center, and those make for a great event with a gorgeous view of downtown, but this couple wanted the complete baseball experience from start to finish."
Guests will begin arriving at 3:00pm, with seating in the All-Star seats behind home plate. The wedding itself will begin at 3:30pm. Johnny TinCap, mascot for the Fort Wayne TinCaps, will be involved in the wedding party processional leading up to the ceremony.
The reception will begin immediately following at 4:00pm with tables and seating on the ballpark's main concourse. The dance floor, DJ, photographs, and cake cutting will all take place on the concourse behind home plate. The couple has chosen a traditional ballpark menu for their guests, hot dogs with all the fixings.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps and Parkview Field staff wish Jodie and John the very best as they lead off their life together. We hope that their marriage will be a grand slam and go well into extra innings.
