Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the third game of a three-game series. Season Series: Dayton 8, Great Lakes 3 (at Dayton: Dragons 3, Loons 2). Streaks: Dayton has won 12 of 15.

Last Night: Dayton defeated Great Lakes 5-4, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a come-from-behind "walk-off" win. Frank Pfister's lead-off home run tied the game and after the Dragons loaded the bases with no one out, Ronald Torreyes singled to right to bring in Jefry Sierra to win it. The Dragons collected 12 hits led by four players with two each (Torreyes, Lutz, Pfister, Sierra). Chad Rogers pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Mitch Clarke makes his fifth start and sixth appearance with the Dragons tonight. Clarke was not involved in the decision in his last start on Saturday vs. Lake County (5 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO). In Clarke's four starts, he has allowed a total of two runs in 21.1 innings. Clarke was promoted to Dayton from Billings on July 21 when Kyle Lotzkar went on the disabled list. Clarke appeared in five games (two starts) this season with Billings, going 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 20 innings. He pitched with the AZL Reds last season, going 3-1, 2.08 in 12 games (six starts). Clarke was the Reds 19th round draft pick in 2009 out of high school in Kitchener, Ontario.

Individual Notes

* In the second half, the Dragons have four of the top five in the league in runs scored. Billy Hamilton is first (44), Ronald Torreyes is second (43), Fort Wayne's Rico Noel is third (42), David Vidal is fourth (39), and Donald Lutz is fifth (38).

* Ronald Torreyes leads the classification (Midwest League and South Atlantic League; 30 teams) in second half batting average (.356) and base hits (72) and is second in runs (43).

* Donald Lutz has a 10-game hitting streak and is batting .368 with 19 RBI in his last 17 games.

* Juan Duran has a nine-game hitting streak, batting .324 with 3 HR and 12 RBI.

* Billy Hamilton has 81 stolen bases to set the Dragons club record for single-season and career steals. He leads all of professional baseball in steals. No other Minor League player has stolen more than 76 bases in a season since 2006, when Eric Young of Asheville stole 87. Hamilton is also second in the league in runs scored for the year.

* Daniel Wolford has not allowed a run since June 9 (18 games, 28.2 innings). Wolford over his last 30 G: 47.2 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 0.57 ERA to lower his season ERA from 4.50 to 1.36.

* Blaine Howell has been unscored upon in 16 of his last 18 appearances. Over the span, he has allowed three runs in 25 innings (1.08 ERA).

* Drew Hayes has allowed only one run over his last 10 outings covering 11.1 innings. His 19 saves rank tied for first in the MWL.

* Chad Rogers has allowed only one run over his last nine outings covering 15.2 innings.

Team Notes

* Dayton has won 10 of their last 12 games and 12 of the last 15.

* The current second half record of 35-17 is the franchise's best ever after 52 games in a half.

* The Dragons' 35-17 record is second best in all of Minor League Baseball among the seven full-season leagues (80 teams) that play a split-season format (Mobile, Southern League: 36-16).

* The Dragons lead the league in team pitching (3.40 ERA; club record is 3.41 in 2007).

* Dayton has held at least a share of first place for the last 50 days (since June 29). They have been in first place for all but four days of the half.

* The Dragons have held their opponent to three runs or less in 13 of the last 15 games and two runs or less in 10 of the last 15. The team ERA over the last 15 games is 2.11 (31 ER in 132 IP; nine of the 31 ER came in one game Friday at West Michigan).
