Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs' offense added 12 hits and Frank Del Valle struck out seven in 5 and 1/3 scoreless innings for an 8-2 victory Friday evening. The Chiefs have won five of their last six series and improved to 22-31 in the second half.

The Chiefs scored a run in each of their first three innings to take an early lead. In the first, Rubi Silva reached on a fielder's choice against Wisconsin starter Eric Arnett, and moved to third on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Richard Jones singled to right field scoring Silva to give Peoria an early 1-0 advantage. In the second, Rafael Valdes began the inning by being hit by a pitch and he moved to third when Sergio Burruel reached on a fielding error. Jesus Morelli grounded out to third, scoring Valdes for a 2-0 Chiefs lead. Peoria added its run in the third when Anthony Giansanti hit a one-out single to left field, and Jones doubled off of the right field wall to score Giansanti and give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead.

Wisconsin went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the first five innings against Del Valle. The Timber Rattlers' best opportunity came in the second inning. Jason Rogers drew a leadoff walk and moved to second when Nick Ramirez grounded out. Chad Stang then reached on a fielding error to put runners on the corners. After a foul out, Stang stole second, but both runners were stranded when Tony Pechek grounded out.

In the fifth, Peoria added two more runs to extend their lead. Silva singled to right to begin the inning and advanced to second when Giansanti was hit by a pitch. Next, Richard Jones smashed a single off of the left field wall to score Silva. A double play moved Giansanti to third, and he scored on Valdes' single to right field, giving Peoria a 5-0 lead.

Peoria lengthened its lead with a three-run sixth inning. Morelli led off the inning with a single to center off of Timber Rattlers' reliever Seth Lintz. With one out, Arismendy Alcantara drilled a triple off of the right field wall to score Morelli. Silva singled to score Alcantara and increase the lead to 7-0. However, the Chiefs weren't done scoring in the inning. Silva advanced to second and third on two separate wild pitches, before scoring on Dustin Geiger's single to left field, giving Peoria a commanding 8-0 lead through six innings.

The Timber Rattlers put two runs on the scoreboard in the eighth inning after Pete Levitt replaced Alvaro Sosa on the mound. Reggie Keen hit a one-out single and moved to second when T.J. Mittelstaedt drew a walk. Next, Cody Hawn grounded into a fielder's choice at second base before Alcantara's throwing error went past first base, scoring Keen and moving Hawn to second. Jason Rogers then singled to center to score Hawn, and bring the game to its final score of 8-2.

Del Valle (3-2) tossed 5 and 1/3 scoreless innings while only giving up four hits. He also struck out seven and allowed only one walk. Sosa replaced Del Valle with one-out in the sixth inning and tossed 1 and 2/3 shutout innings. Sosa didn't allow a hit and struck out one. Levitt threw two innings, giving up two hits and two runs, one earned. Levitt didn't record a strikeout and allowed one walk.

Casey's General Store Player of the Game - Richard Jones (1B) - Jones went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. The first basemen also added two singles and a walk for his 11th game this season with three hits.
