
Captains Swept in South Bend

Lake County Captains News Release
(South Bend, IN) - The South Bend Silver Hawks put the finishing touches on a sweep of the Lake County Captains taking game three 4-2 on Friday night. The Captains went 1-5 on the road trip.
The Silver Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Ender Inciarte singled home Niko Gallego. He would steal second base and then score on a single by David Narodowski.
The Silver Hawks added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Matt Helm singled home Narodowski and Yazy Arbelo and South Bend led 4-0.
The Captains scored a run in the top of the sixth inning when Kevin Fontanez hit his first home run of the year and it was 4-1. It became 4-2 in the top of the seventh inning when Carlos Moncrief doubled and two batters later Alex Monsalve grounded out allowing Moncrief to score.
Captains starter Mike Goodnight (5-12) took the loss working 4.2 innings and allowing four runs on three hits, walking six and striking out two. Cody Allen pitched 2.1 scoreless innings allowing a hit and striking out four. Allen has pitched 10.1 scoreless innings since joining the Captains. Dale Dickerson worked a scoreless inning walking one.
Silver Hawks starter Bradin Hagins (7-6) got the win pitching six innings allowing one run on six hits, walking two and striking out three. Victor Cappellan pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first save of the year.
The Captains return to Classic Park on Saturday at 7 PM for a four game home stand against the Fort Wayne Tin Caps (Padres). The Captains will send RHP Felix Sterling (2-3, 4.63) to the mound to oppose LHP Todd Privett (2-2, 3.68). The game can be heard on AM 1330 WELW and on the internet at captainsbaseball.com.
It is a Saturday Fireworks night presented by Monreal Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Just in time for the school year to begin, the first 1,500 fans will receive a soft sided lunch box courtesy of Lake Heath.
Prior to the game on Saturday there will be a softball game between WOIO Channel 19 and employees of Lake Health. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales on Saturday will benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. The softball game begins at 5:00PM.
